In late May, we embarked on an adventurous journey with our Czech colleagues, exploring the Aegean Sea. Setting sail from Athens, our voyage spanned sixteen days of relentless paddling until we finally reached the shores of Crete. To undertake this expedition, we relied upon a replica of an 8000-year-old logboat discovered in Italy’s Lake Bracciano. Given that the original Bracciano boat exhibited signs of sail usage, our primary scientific inquiry revolved around whether prehistoric mariners were capable of sailing under favorable weather conditions. After days of arduous labor, we can confirm that the incorporation of a sail significantly enhanced our ability to maneuver the boat. (More@https://projektnavis.com/)
